The Secret to Beating Teen Acne
The reasons for teen acne can be uncovered if teens will keep a journal of their acne breakouts. A journal will give clues of why there is an acne problem.
The purpose of a journal is to examine every action that could have contributed to acne. When acne is first noticed a journal should be started right then. The teen should reflect on the past 24 hours and write down every activity that could have possibly contributed to their acne breakout. Key factors to consider are what did I eat. Write down everything that you ate in the past 24 hours. If you skipped a meal write that down too. Research the foods that were eaten to see if they have any potential side effects or allergic reactions. Did you eat anything you have not eaten in a while? How many glasses of water did you drink? Did you drink any sodas? Do you eat a lot of sugar items, such as candy? Did you eat a lot of junk food?
Write down if you experienced a lot of stress over the past 24 hours. Describe what was going on in your life that stressed you out. Explain how you reacted to the stress. Are you stressed now?
Did you engage in any physical activity? If you did engage in physical activity explain the details. Here are some key questions to ask yourself. Did you over exert yourself? Did you sweat profusely? Did you take a shower immediately after exercising? Did you put on fresh clean clothes afterwards? Did you wear someone elses clothes or borrow their athletic equipment such as helmet or chin strap?
Recognize where the acne occurred on your face or body. Think of any reasons why the acne occurred in that spot and nowhere else. If the acne appeared on your forehead, was it because of your hair? Were you playing with the dog and you accidentally got dog hair on your face in that area? Did you wear any athletic clothing or equipment that may have aggravated your skin? Could it possibly be a certain shirt or clothing item that you wore that irritated your skin? There are many clues that will shed light on why acne all of a sudden occurred.
As you gather information from the last 24 hours continue the journal until your acne disappears or begins to improve. If you are using acne medications keep track of how they perform. Write down which ones work and which one does not work. Create your own acne prevention strategy for the next few days by following a strict healthy diet and incorporating some acne prevention measures. Be sure to start drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. Eliminate the sugars from your diet. Are you constipated? If you are constipated, take a laxative or if necessary use an enema to relieve your bowels. Stay out of the sun as much as possible. Change your linen on your bed including your pillow case. Avoid stressful situations if you can.
Keeping a journal can be the most effective way to an acne solution. You will learn what exactly stirs on an acne breakout in you.
